A gurukul (Sanskrit guru "teacher" or "master"; kul domain, from kula, "extended family") is a type of school in India, residential in nature, with shishyas living in proximity to the guru, often within the same house. A gurukul is also a pious place, where shishyas also get knowledge of true God, and eternal knowledge of Moksha (liberation from samsara and the concomitant suffering involved in being subject to the cycle of repeated death and rebirth (reincarnation)). With the similar intention, His Holy Divine Highness Shastri Shree Ghanshyamprakashdasji Swami of Kandari Gurukul initiated this worship place in Macon, Georgia.

Macon (pronounced /ˈmeɪkən/) is a city located in central Georgia. The city of Macon, is also know has “Heart of Georgia”.  And with the blessings of Shastri Shree Ghanshyamprakashdasji, Mission of Swaminarayan Gurukul will also reside in the Heart of Georgians.
  

              In the early 2004, a handful of Swaminarayan devotees in the area of Macon began meeting at each other’s homes on a weekly basis to hold religious gatherings.  As the number of devotees and the Indian community in the surrounding area steadily increased, a special place of worship was needed, and with the blessings of Shastri Shree Ghanshyamprakashdasji, and help of devotees from the surrounding area a spacious land of 4 Acres was purchased in the year of 2009. And on August 29th 2010, this holy land was sanctified by Shastri Shree GhanshyamPrakashDasji, and sant Mandal for the ritual ceremony of land breaking.
Mission of Swaminarayan Gurukul (Mandir),is a rare and valuable gift to society that aim to imbibe cultural, moral and spiritual values to thousands of people who visit it daily to pray, celebrate, and receive inspiration.
